The QA/QC Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Integrated Quality Management System in line with company policy. This role involves overseeing all QA/QC activities on-site to ensure that project construction adheres to quality standards and requirements. The QA/QC Manager reports directly to the Head of Projects/Construction.
Job Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain quality plans.
Implement site-specific quality standards for equipment, materials, and design.
Coordinate site-specific plans with project manager and director during RFP process.
Ensure construction adheres to quality control and commissioning plans, local codes, design documents, and contractor agreements.
Provide weekly reports on quality and commissioning progress, trend analysis, risk analysis, and turnover package information.
Conduct and coordinate weekly meetings with quality and commissioning teams.
Participate in project-specific meetings (kick-off, sub-contractor, progress).
Mentor, train, and audit field construction managers, site leads, and QA/QC representatives.
Collect required documentation for major milestones, project closeout, and RFI review.
Coordinate completion walkdowns, handover of start-up packages, and closeout of punch list items.
Develop utility acceptance test procedures and ensure successful tests.
Review and approve quality control and commissioning documents.
Build and complete turnover packages for clients.
Collect and analyze data from quality and commissioning processes.
Evaluate contractor performance and facilitate improvements.
Manage QA/QC of equipment, materials, and contracts from suppliers and services.
Conduct factory inspections and report deviations.
Implement Quality Management System on site.
Prepare and implement QCPs for materials and services.
Provide necessary training to contractors and workmen on site.
Ensure QA/QC procedures and processes are followed.
Monitor work execution and take necessary actions.
Follow up on Quality related NCRs and ensure closure.
Review design and engineering documents for quality inputs.
Compile and distribute QA/QC reports/statistics.
Monitor quality implementations through site inspections and review meetings.
Lead RCA for non-conformities and ensure corrective actions.
Provide administrative support for Quality related meetings and events.
Liaise with QA/QC leaders regarding data and statistics.
Key Relationships
Internal: Project Manager, Project Directors, Site Engineers, Supervisors, Office team.
External: Owner’s Engineer, EPC Contractor, all contractors and workmen on site, logistics provider.
Qualifications & Experience
Engineering Graduate/Diploma with QA/QC work experience.
Knowledge of seven basic tools of quality control (QC).
Preferred Six Sigma certification.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office.
Certification in quality control (ISO 9000 etc.) is a strong advantage.
8 to 10 years managing Quality on EPC construction sites, Solar construction sites, and overall QA/QC implementation.
