About 1882 Energy Ventures
1882 Energy Ventures is a venture studio accelerating the global energy transition by building and scaling startups that decentralize energy systems—reshaping how homes, businesses, mobility, and networks are powered. By advancing decentralization, we drive decarbonization, enhance energy efficiency, and fuel long-term economic growth and development in the Philippines and beyond.
The Venture
OpenPower unlocks investment capital for decentralized energy by giving midscale developers access to flexible financing, risk assessment, and payment management. We enable developers to offer zero-downpayment financing to their customers, driving capital into small-scale DER projects while ensuring transparency for investors. By streamlining risk evaluation, capital deployment, and payment collection, OpenPower accelerates decentralized energy adoption in emerging markets.
About the Role
As the Developer Management Lead, you will be at the forefront of OpenPower’s engagement with solar developers and ecosystem partners. You’ll drive the growth and success of our developer network—building trusted, long-term relationships, structuring developer contracts, and enabling project origination at scale.
You’ll also form strategic partnerships with OEMs, financiers, and service providers, shaping the solar ecosystem around OpenPower. This role blends relationship management, industry knowledge, and strategic execution—requiring someone with both technical acumen and marketing instinct, who thrives in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Developer & Ecosystem Strategy
- Define and execute OpenPower’s strategy to grow, support, and activate our developer network across Southeast Asia.
- Identify, onboard, and enable midscale solar developers through effective partnership models, standard contracts, and shared growth goals.
- Develop a segmentation strategy across developer archetypes (e.g., EPCs, project developers, aggregators) and tailor engagement strategies accordingly.
Relationship Management & Enablement
- Build deep, trusted relationships with key developer partners, serving as their strategic point of contact and advocate within OpenPower.
- Guide developers on project qualification, onboarding processes, credit requirements, and financing products.
- Lead workshops, training, and marketing efforts to increase project pipeline quality and developer capacity.
Strategic Partnerships & Market Expansion
- Form partnerships with OEMs (e.g., inverter and battery manufacturers), installers, and solar solution providers to streamline project delivery and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with utility players, cooperatives, and associations to widen OpenPower’s reach into new SME segments.
- Support market entry and expansion strategies by building relationships with local market actors, technical consultants, and government bodies.
Commercial Operations & Coordination
- Manage developer contracts, incentive structures, and commercial terms—balancing scalability with strong governance.
- Coordinate closely with the Credit, Risk, and Project Finance teams to align technical, financial, and compliance requirements.
- Provide regular insights from the field to help improve OpenPower’s financing structures, technology platform, and SME scoring tools.
Representation & Advocacy:
- Represent the company at industry events and conferences to enhance brand recognition and drive market adoption.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in solar project development, EPC sales, technical partnership management, or B2B business development in the clean energy sector.
- Deep understanding of rooftop solar markets in Southeast Asia, particularly SME segments and developer business models.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing a regional partner or channel network, ideally across multiple markets.
- Familiarity with technical components of solar systems (PV, batteries, inverters) and procurement/installation ecosystems.
- Strong commercial sense and ability to structure deals and contracts with long-term win-win outcomes.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and intercultural fluency—able to engage CEOs of local developers, OEMs, and policy stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and commitment to building something impactful from the ground up.
- Passionate about the clean energy transition and enabling local developers to grow their businesses and impact.
