JOB SUMMARY: (Please indicate what is the purpose of this job in the organization)

Under the close supervision of the Farm Veterinary Health Manager, provides various services and assistance relating to medical care, health maintenance, illness & sickness recuperation, injury treatment, castration and other assorted administrative functions such as recording and reports preparation.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : (Please indicate in order of importance the regular tasks performed by this job to achieve its purpose in the organization. As much as possible follow the sentence syntax of WHAT, HOW & WHY)

  1. Support Veterinary Health Team in the maintenance of proper health care of farm animals in support of the farm’s productivity and quality goals.
  2. Formulates protocols for trials and experiments through product trials from Purchasing or as per instruction for improvements and/or alternatives.
  3. Monitors trials/experiments to ensure compliance to set protocols; ensures proper use of drugs/medications and checks consumption of vaccines.
  4. Provides assistance in the development of system approach in pig production, research and development.
  5. Checks and monitors health status of animals in the unit through implementation of necessary procedures and guidelines set by farm manager in line with company policies.
  6. Coordinates with Biotech Laboratory personnel in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
  7. Conducts seminars & workshops among fellow veterinarians and veterinary aides to help ensure high health status of animals.
  8. Prepares reports and related statistics regarding health status, sickness incidence, mortality rate, etc. to farm production personnel and unit heads as basis for performance and future intervention.
  9. Monitors and ensures proper implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by company for high quality of animal health status.
  10. Evaluates SOP and suggests alternative procedures as needed to improve existing practice.
  11. Monitors morbidity and mortality to assess health of herd and determines cause of mortality and conducts serology by collecting blood samples from unit to check the serological profile of the farm.
  12. Keeps tract of production performance parameter (e.g. intake, sales, etc.) through review of regular reports from units.
  13. Practices religiously company rules and regulations on personnel conduct and other policies or programs concerning safety, security, energy and materials conservation. Interprets such rules and regulations in the course of implementation should the occasion arise.
  14. Performs other functions which may be assigned by the immediate superior from time to time.


Requirements

  • Graduate of Doctors of Veterinary Medicine.
  • At least 1-3 years of work experience.
