Description

  • Assisting with food preparation:
  • This includes tasks like washing, chopping, and portioning ingredients, preparing sauces, and organizing food for cooking. 
  • Following recipes and instructions:
  • Kitchen staff need to be able to accurately follow recipes and instructions provided by the Head Chef or other senior kitchen staff. 
  • Cooking various dishes:
  • Depending on the establishment, kitchen staff may be involved in cooking a range of dishes, including grilling, frying, baking, and steaming. 
  • Monitoring food quality and presentation:
  • Ensuring that food is cooked to the correct specifications, is visually appealing, and meets the restaurant's standards. 

Kitchen Operations and Maintenance:

  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace:
  • This involves washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly. 
  • Managing inventory and supplies:
  • Kitchen staff may assist with tracking inventory, restocking supplies, and reporting low stock levels to the supervisor. 
  • Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment:
  • This includes understanding how to use and clean various cooking equipment like ovens, stovetops, and grills. 
  • Adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines:
  • This is crucial to prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers. 

Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications: High/Senior High School diploma required.
  • Experience Level: Less than 1 year of experience in a kitchen environment preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies: Proficient in cooking techniques, strong kitchen hygiene practices, customer-oriented mindset, and attention to detail.
  • Working Conditions: Fast-paced kitchen environment, potential for long hours on feet.
  • Qualities and Traits: Team player, reliable, adaptable, and efficient under pressure.
